BRONSON GALLERY

Now isn’t that a nice pic of Charles Bronson to start off the Bronson Cannon Gallery? Pictured with his wife (and Cannon co-star), Jill Ireland.

OK, I’ll post a pic of his gun for fans:

If you have anything you’d like to add to the gallery please get in touch. See the Contact Me page on the main menu

Interesting case from Germany for Restless Natives (1985) which was part of the Cannon Screen Entertainment catalogue. Released as Die Touristenfalle. And a really nice cover from Italy

 for Strange Invaders (1983).

Also added:

Ordeal by Innocence (1984) Cannon / MGM-UA (UK)

Plenty (1985) Cannon Warner/IMDb A-Z

CANNON CINEMAS –KNOWN UNKNOWN

A massive thanks to Matt for identifying this last cinema from the Cannon Cinemas gallery. It’s Basingstoke (which is in Hampshire England for those we don’t know). I think that was quite a nice

looking building. A bit Art Deco.

I’m always looking for stuff for the cinema gallery so if you have any photos, articles or newspaper adverts of your local (or any) Cannon Cinema –please get in touch. See the Contact Me page

 on the main menu

THE DUDIKOFF

Some nice pictures of Michael taken from Cannon poster scans (Midnight Ride (1990), River of Death (1989) & The Human Shield (1992)) . All added to the  Cannon Stars  gallery. They’re originally

MASSIVE (100mb+ each) so I’ve reduced them a lot so they don’t break the site. I always have to reduce the quality of images sadly but if I didn’t this site would stop working.

Talking about Midnight Ride (1990), look at this cover from Germany:

Luke Skywalker, you’d never know he was in Star Wars! Mark Hamill looks more like MANIAC COP 4 in that picture.

CANNON PIC OF THE DAY

Thanks to Matthew for the image.

ADDED SCANS:

“Mark held the key to Robotech. Unlocking its powers could save the World!” –tagline

Thanks to anime-games.co.uk  for the great Robotech: The Movie (1986) scan. Have been after that for some time.

Thanks to Gerlinde from Germany, for that great Making the Grade (1984) cover from West Germany.

I LIKE THE SMELL OF NEW LOGOS IN THE MORNING

I like that from Italy. Some really nice artwork from Italy. We don’t have an Italy Cannon Gallery as I don’t have very much so far. One cover I’d really like on the site is:

-believe it or not, that’s the Italy cover for Ninja III: The Domination (1984)

We want the finest artwork available to humanity, we want it here, and we want it now! *

COBRA: THE COMIC

István sent over this very interesting comic from Hungary. Added to  Film & Image

Thanks to István.

CLASSY CANNON WITH PLACIDO AND A NEW LOGO

Interesting UK Cannon release of this Placido Domingo documentary. Within months, Cannon were splashing the cash on high art productions like Placido’s Otello (1986).

SILENT NIGHT, BLOODY NIGHT

Anyone remember this interesting little film with John Carradine? Cannon released it in the USA at cinemas. The film caught my eye because it has dozens of DVD releases. I’ve never seen so many

releases of a single film. I’d like to see a scan of the UK Intervision VHS/Betamax if anyone can help.

Cannon cinema poster                                Japan VHS                                      UK DVD, Cannon artwork with no

                                                                                                                                          mention of Cannon. Coincidence that

Cannon’s UK studio was called “Elstree”.

Nice review of the film www.hysteria-lives.co.uk/hysterialives/Hysteria/silent_night_bloody_night.html

There’s an excellent (definitive!) fansite of this film and it’s worth a look www.freewebs.com/silentnightbloodynight/index.htm  If you have any material or know anything about this film I’m sure

the guy running that site would be very pleased with your information.

SUPERMAN IV GALLERY   Film & Image

I have to be honest and say my heart wasn’t really into doing this gallery which is why it took so long. I’m a big Superman fan so found S4 to be a complete disaster and the worst thing Cannon

ever done. I’m very sorry for all concerned with the production. Still, it’s Cannon so it’s getting a mention. If you’d like to add something to the gallery please let me know.

There must be a lot more promotional stuff out there.

Naseer kindly sent these images from Video Trader magazine from around 1986. A Case of Deadly Force (1986) and Silver Bullet (1985) were both released by Cannon Screen Entertainmnet. You can see the

final UK artwork for home video here and here.

Thanks Naseer!

Frog Prince (1986) –as released in Germany with a cassette that can be found in the dark. Which reminds me I’ll have to do a Cannon Movie Tales page sometime as I get a lot of emails on those films.

If anyone would like to send me some Movie Tales artwork please do.

Found this 20 year old cassette. Another release I wasn’t aware of until recently. It has a really LOUD intro just after the Cannon logo which you can see on YouTube here

With Richard Harrison. Scan of cover here. Added to the Cannon Screen Entertainment Gallery.

Escape From Beyond was a planned Cannon Group Inc trilogy project, but was never made. They did release promotional material for the film –and what material! A real piece of art I’d say. It’s been added to the new

Cannon, Could Have Been section on the main menu. Also moved Spider-Man to that section and may add more stuff when time and material allows. If you’d like to add something that was never produced please get in touch.

Thanks to MightyMcT.

SCAN ADDITIONS

                                                                    click for large view

The Raggedy Rawney (1988) is a strange little film directed by Bob Hoskins. I quite liked but will have to get the MGM USA DVD to watch it again. Added to the Cannon Video Gallery.

                                                                    click for large view

Colonel Redl (1985)  -found this. Wasn’t that difficult once I realised it was out there. Known unknown, yes. Added to the Cannon Rank Gallery. I’ve redone that gallery (will do the others soon) so it

loads quicker for those who have slower Internet connections. This site is kept as simple as possible so it works best. It is best view with FireFox however www.firefox.com

                                                                    click for large view

Hanna's War (1988)

What’s all that about? I think at the stage they printed this UK cover they were making any old name from Pathe/Cannon/MGM/MGM-Pathe/Pathe Corp. Only seen “PATHE GROUP” twice.

I think there’s only 2 or 3 Cannon Video/Pathé UK covers remaining that I’m after (know of any I’ve missed?).  The ones I’m after are:

Manifesto (1988)

Withnail & I (1987) this one and not the small/retail box already posted.

If you can herlp with those UK large box/rental sleeves please get in touch. See the Contact Me page on the main menu

TCM2  -GALLERY ADDITION

Added a mini-gallery for the Anchor Bay special edition. The TCM2 Gallery is in  Film & Image on the main menu.

Got another VHS/Laserdisc release of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986)? Send me the images/scans and I’ll add them to the gallery.

CANNON BLAST IN

“The powers behind Cannon” –sounds mystical.

ADDED SCANS

                                                                      click for large view

Lost of scans added. The Driver (1978) was part of the Cannon Screen Entertainment catalogue and is one of my favourite films of the 1970s. Yes, nothing really to do with Golan-Globus but they were

smart enough to buy the film (not so smart losingt, however). The film is now controlled by VivendiUniversal the last I looked. Seen The Driver (1978)  released under Cannon somewhere else? LMK.

Also…

                                                                      click for large view

…some more great scans from Hungary. Thanks to István, again. Covers added to the IMDb A-Z:

Hitman, The (1991)

Invasion USA (1985)

Last American Virgin, The (1982)

Murphy's Law (1986)

Ten Little Indians (1989)

Young Warriors (1983)

GALLERY UPDATES –SCANDINAVIA

Started a “page 2” of the Cannon Scandinavia Gallery. Lots of great stuff scanned, with special thanks to Hietapakka from Finland –and a big thanks too of course to everyone else who’s kindly

sent me stuff. I get emails from all around the world from people saying they love these scans –I know I do!- so everyone’s hard work sharing these images is much appreciated!

UK HOME VIDEO POSTERS

click for large view

I picked up a load of these posters (460mm x 680mm (18" x 27")) intended for video shops in the 1980s. Which reminds me, can anyone help me with a UK VHS scan of the original Bloodsport rental

release? That’s the big box meant for video rental shops. If you can send me a cover or email a high quality scan you can have one of those Bloodsport posters as a thank you (if you want it that is).

WHO MESSED WITH CHUCK NORRIS’S TEETH?

click for large view (orthodontists should move immediately to the next article)

I posted a version of this in the Chuck Norris Gallery but I now have it supersized. What happened to his teeth? It’s as if the artist got that far and gave up. I have informed Mr Norris.

CANNON VIDEO GRAVEYARD

click for magazine view

The more I dig the more I find! I had known about Cannon’s cinema release of this (beautiful UK quad poster here (that’s one of my posters and I intend to photograph them all and post the images

when time permits)) but I hadn’t realised this appeared under Rank/Cannon on UK home VHS/Beta. If anyone comes by the cover of that I’d like a scan obviously.

VIDEO TODAY MAGAZINE

Any UK visitors remember that from the late 1980s? Fab magazine. I have the busy “Cannon Years” (1986-1988 I’d say) and it’s full of gems like this cover:

                                    click for large view

I’ll be making my way through the magazines and scanning anything I find that I reckon we’ll enjoy.  Only had a quick look but the humour of the editor Chris Adam-Smith (where is he now?) shines

through still.

I’m still after video/cinema magazines from the 1980s so if you’d like to donate,  sell or email scans of them, please get in touch See the Contact Me page on the main menu

CANNON SCANDINAVIA GALLERY

Managed to get that started. Those great scans are brought to us by Filminteressert from Norway and Lazer, FIxed , Hietapakka from Finland and  Dag-Johnny from Norway (for the Children’s War I scan).

Thanks for all the hard work!

If you have a scan from Scandinavia or your country you’d like added to this site for an archive you can send it to me See the Contact Me page on the main menu

CANNON BOOKS

                                                                                                                                click for larger view

Cannon liked basing their films on books. I’ll be scanning these in soon and making a page.  Those are mostly movie tie-ins (ie based on the film).

If you have a picture of a Cannon book you’d like to add, get in touch.

BARFLY SNOW GLOBE

I’ll say nothing about this as you can see for yourself here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250230854170  (once that disappears you’ll find the image saved here)

No, it’s not an April Fool’s Joke (I saw this last week)  either unless he has a lot of time on his hands because there’s many more for sale.
