Finally found the Cannon Films promo We're Cannon Films and We're Dynamite(voiced by the great Don LaFontaine™). I’m sure there’s another version for “Cannon Video”.

Enter the Ninja (1981)  (RCA-Columbia – Cannon) –Pretty rare original UK rental VHS. Note the copyright on the cover “©1981 Cannon Globus, Inc”. This was a co-production with City Films (also made Death Wish 2, which didn’t carry the Cannon name).

Masters 3D VHS in Germany! That’s how it was advertised but it’s really just a holograph bit of plastic.

Added a scan of the UK VHS of The Dead Can’t Lie (1988) (Cannon/Pathe Video). This cool little film (released as Gotham in the USA on Showtime cable

TV and on DVD from MGM) was thought so interesting Cannon decided to release it at the cinema in the UK after a rename.

80-TALETS COOLASTE!

Missing in Action –All 3 films together in Scandinavia.

I like the sound of “80-TALETS COOLASTE”. No idea what it means but I like it.

Where Are They Now

Cannon’s 1971 Boris Karloff Cauldron of  Blood has popped up on UK DVD from www.orbitmedia.co.uk

Orbit have also released Cannon’s 1973 Blockhouse which stars Peter Sellers. I don’t know the onnection with these films now with Cannon but

MGM is in the mix somewhere as the UK DVD of Blockhouse ends with the MGM.com logo and MGM also handle the Region 1 DVD release.

Superman 4 (I prefer the “4” as it’s less respectable).

Pity about the film…

Missing in Action VHS -UK style

Scans added:

Added the VHS and Betamax (if you don't know what Betamax is it's a bit like Blu-Ray but was more popular) of

Chuck's 2 films. The Missing in Action fronts of cover logos are actually finished in embossed metal so they look

very good. These were the original releases by Guild Home Video and have been added to that gallery.

God’s Gun (1976) (Rank Video - Cannon)

Missing in Action (1984)  (Guild Home Video - Cannon)

Missing in Action 2: The Beginning (1985)  (Guild Home Video - Cannon)

Isn’t the plural of “dwarf” supposed to be “dwarves”?

Found an old Golan-Globus Productions trailer for God’s Gun and it’s now on YouTube

Looks like half of the cast just wandered on to the set from Kid Vengeance made months early by Golan-Globus.

Not sure if God’s Gun was originally a Cannon film however it became one when Golan-Globus bought Cannon and it was then

released through Paragon USA and like so many of those rights it now available on DVD for pennies throughout the world.

However, I’ve taken a look at the UK MGM DVD and it has a very impressive transfer. It has the 1980s Cannon logo which

is all wrong but I guess that’s the correct logo for when Cannon was merged with MGM. The DVD is letter-boxed 4:3, comes

with a load of subtitles and the audio is excellent. Some grabs from it are here

Scans added:

Alien from LA (1988) (Cannon Video)

Kinjite Forbidden Subjects (1989) (Pathe Video)

Powaqqatsi (1988) (Cannon Video)

Hanoi Hilton, The (1987) (Warner Home Video - Cannon)

6 Euro Chuck in !

                                                   click for larger image

I’m not sure what will make Chuck more angry. The fact that this dodgy looking DVD has 5 masterpieces of cinema for only

6 euros (6 euros is about 4 British pounds and about 20 bullets in US dollars) or that it’s in DTS only. Chuck likes mono only.

Scan added:

American Samurai (1992) (Warner Home Video - Cannon) –one of the last Cannon films.

Added a page to Michael’s 4 intros (notice how they’re all the same apart from the cutaway).

If someone has large scans of the covers I’d like a copy for this site so get in touch.

Cannon in-joke

This is the first time I’ve seen an in-joke in a Cannon film. From Kinjite trailer here we see a

glimpse of 2 other Cannon films showing at the cinema. Anyone seen any other Cannon  in-jokes?

Merry Christmas! Yes, it's not a Golan-Globus film but Cannon did release it on video here in the UK and that's how I'll always remember it. Great trailer added to YouTube

Rose Garden, The (1989 (Cannon Video) [scan below]

21st Century Film Corporation and Cannon?

Never found a connection between these 2 companies (apart from Golan of course) but take a look at this copyright note on the UK VHS tape of The Rose Garden

                                  UK VHS                                                                                                   End titles

Look at the end titles here and the copyright is confirmed and amazingly the Cannon logo is the wrong way around.

Very odd that 21st Century would be mentioned on that with "Cannon Pictures" (Golan’s short-lived offshoot of Cannon when

the Cannon Group Inc was merged with MGM). The UK VHS was released by Cannon Video/Pathé. MGM do control some

rights to 21st Century Film Corporation product like The Phantom of the Opera  -I’ve added a 21st  Century page to the main menu
