JANUARY 2008 (see
menu for older news)
A lot of scans added. I hope to be adding more text to the site and start
the actors’ galleries (lobby cards, stills, posters etc) in the next few
months.
Adding images has taken up all my time. I thought it would be days and it’s
turned out to be months. However: I’m still looking for people to send
me stuff (from anywhere in the world) so don’t be shy! See the Contact Me page on the main
menu

Big thanks to Steve for
the I'm Almost Not Crazy

to send that to me for us all to see.
New additions, Cannon

The Uranium Conspiracy (1978) + Escape to
the Sun (1972) –From Golan (Globus only gets an executive producer mention on The Uranium Conspircay) pre-Cannon I think
and they moved to Cannon for their distribution deals with Paragon (USA) and
Rank Video (UK).
Added scans:
Exterminator 2 (1984) [Germany VHS]
Exterminator 2 (1984) [Austria VHS]
Barfly (1987) (Cannon-Warner)

LEMON POPSICLE

Fairly definitve site for Lemon Popsicle fans http://lemonpopsicleforever.atspace.com
I have an original Lemon Popsicle 2 Going Steady (1979) scan. Hokushin
released 2 versions. Pretty old tapes! I’ll be uploading the other Hokushin
scan soon.

AUSTRALIA GETTING SOME MORE CANNON MOVIE TALES DVDS
MARCH 2008

A good site all about Cannon Move Tales: www.mystacor.com/cannon_tales/index.htm
Australian shop EzyDVD:
Beauty and the Beast (1987) www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/797936
Hansel and Gretel (1988) www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/797937
Snow White (1987) www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/797938
Sleeping Beauty (1987) and Red Riding Hood (1989) are already on DVD in Australia
and a few other countries. Checkout that site above for more info on Cannon
Movie Tales.
DEFINITELY NOT CANNON
click for larger image
There’s a couple of French budget DVD distributors who label other film
company product as Cannon and in particular as “Cannon Pictures”.
Lone Wolf McQuade (1983)/An Eye for an Eye (1981) (Orion/MGM are now part
of the MGM/Cannon catalogue) but there’s no other connection and it’s got
absolutely nothing to do with Cannon Pictures. They also use information
from both films (titles/photos) and list it as one film as seen on the back of the case too.
RARE CANNON
I think the word “rare” is used a bit too much but look what I found. An
as new (from 1986-7) VHS Cannon Classics VHS tape. It had never been played by the looks of
thing (the leader tape was still in it’s duplicated position).
Scan additions:
American Ninja 3 Blood Hunt (1989) (Cannon-Pathe)
Lifeforce (1985) (Cannon-Guild Home Video)
Manhattan Project, The (1986) (Cannon
Germany)
Masters of The Universe (1987) (Cannon – Warner)
Under Cover (1987) (Cannon Germany)
PICTURE GLOBE

Keep seeing this in front of many
Cannon Pictures’ films. Menahem’s project (started years before he arrived
–just like The Cannon Group Inc) which seems to have disappeared. See the video
intro on YouTube here
FLAT COPY
Treasure of the Four Crowns (1983)
I usually Photoshop remove labels but couldn’t quite work out what “Flat
Copy” meant on this Cannon Germany VHS
until I realised the label hid the 3D text. So, no Wonder-Vision 3D in Germany!

Large German cover here

In the Cannon Film Review/Comment I’ve added an amusing piece about Over The Top (1987). Not entirely accurate but a very good read.
Added scans:

Breakdance: The Movie (1984) (Guild Home Video - Cannon)
Breakdance 2: Electric Boogaloo (1984)
(Guild
Home Video - Cannon)
DOES EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN…

This is the sort of thing we’re missing out on since the demise of
Cannon. Also released as Seed of Innocence
(1980) I
reckon Teen Mothers makes it sound like a biker move.
3 x

“COMPLETE

WHITE OF THE EYE –HOLLAND, DVD
click for larger image
Pretty good DVD transfer leaving the Cannon logo intact on the film and the
Cannon name on the titles (a few
distributors chop these things off).
Donald Cammell's muddled film with David Keith. At least that’s how I
remember it but I’ll be rewatching it soon.

I’m flattered people think this site is Cannon but it isn’t! It’s a fan
site. Sony Pictures Entertainment (owned by Sony who co-own MGM (who own much of Cannon’s back
catalogue)) sent the above email. Strange that they think
Cannon would be using a Mail.com email.
Maybe if Cannon were around they’d do just that :p I think I’ll reply to
Sony that they can buy the rights to Killer Crocodile 2 (1990)
for US$45,000,000 or I’d settle for a
Blu-Ray player and a PlayStation 3.What’s the chances of that?
I’ve had emails like this from film/TV production companies asking about
clips/prints. If anyone is after Cannon back catalogue clips and stills then
they should contact the copyright owner which will usually be:
MGM www.mgmstills.com (you can search their
[incomplete] database there), Warner www.warnerbros.com or VivendiUniversal www.vivendiuniversal.com –who also own some Cannon.
Cannon’s back
catalogue is all over the place however so if you need a good guess then
feel free to ask. I am intending (already started) to do a page on who owns
what. It is a very big job to do so don’t hold your breath waiting.
SUPERMAN HORROR

I remember standing in the foyers of at least 2 Cannon cinemas here in the UK looking at
that poster. I like that poster but
thought it a bit cheap
looking even for a preview poster (terrible one colour logo, Reeve still
from older film). Sadly, the cheap look was confirmed with the film.
DEATH WISH 4: THE COMMENT
[Dragan Antulov, talking about Death Wish 4]: “Fourth
(and, unfortunately, not the final) installment in the DEATH WISH series, will
probably remembered as the typical
movie of Cannon Group,
production company responsible for some of the worst cinematic trash of the
last decade.” –Comment off a blog. Amused me.

Bronson's Death Wish 5 back at home with MGM. Looks like Menahem Golan done some sort of deal
in Germany (he'd done several with Lemon Popsicle)
where Death Wish 5 (21 Century Corp) has ended up with MGM.
Added scans:
Mona Lisa (1986) (Cannon Screen Entertainment
(Germany)) -Some really nice artwork
from Germany
Pirates (1986) (Cannon Screen Entertainment
(Germany))

Looking to add a North American (USA/Canada) home video Gallery (I prefer
VHS/Betamax but anything Cannon you
think other people would like is good by me) so I
need people to send me scans. I do have some scans in the IMDb Gallery
but not many. I reckon Europe has much more good scans around for VHS because
our
VHS/Betamax/V2000 sleeves were separate in a case and most USA/Canada
videos are in those terrible slip cases which means the cardboard rots away.
So, get scanning and drop me an email. See the Contact Me page on the main menu
There is one scan I’d
really like and that’s the large box MGM release of:
Looking for the large case MGM/UA / Cannon USA
release of this. Anyone help with that scan?

Nothing against Mr Bradley but Cannon Video should change “The American
Ninja” to “An American Ninja” as any true American Ninja fan will tell you,
there’s only one American Ninja and that’s The Dudikoff™.

Not sure about the font on Death Wish 3 (1985)
THE DUDIKOFF™

Avenging Force (1986) I reckon.

Added scan of Dudikoff’s Rescue Me (1993)
to the Cannon Germany gallery. Excellent cover with a name change to
“Streethunter”.
Trailer for Rescue Me (1993) here

6 ft /1.8m high. Probably seemed a good idea at the time.

Some Cobra
(1986)
for Stallone fans.

Strange item. Photographic slide from Hercules (1983)
From Cannon's promotional "Cannonball". Thanks to J.D. and to www.dolph-ultimate.com (it really is the
ULTIMATE Dolph site so check it out if you’re a fan of Dolph).
Thanks to Robert for this excellent “Marine Fighter” [AKA The Human Shield (1992)] VHS scan from Germany/Austria.
As with all scans you can see them in the Cannon Film A-Z IMDb & Image
Gallery
Nice cover for the Germany/Austria release of The Borrower (1991). Big thanks to M.
Fancy some dusting with Van Damme? Click the image for full size dusting!
I assume they thought Death Warrant was better. Eventually.

Cannon Promotion section has some added images from film catalogues which were very
kindly sent to me. Sadly, I only have the images so
if someone would like to sell or donate (or do multiple scans) of
something like please let me know: See
the Contact Me page on the main menu
Thanks.

Pirates (1986) pages added under Cannon’s Best menu. In my top 5 Cannon films.

Spider-Man page added
in the Film &
Image section.

Chuck could have been Cannon films! Fifty-Fifty (1992) did make it but with
RoboCop starring. US poster here
…not all bad Chuck news as I’ve added the rental UK VHS scan (The German
VHS has been added to Cannon IMDb A-Z)

Never happened with Dudukoff, name dropped and Cannon Pictures handled it
after Cannon International disappeared.

Original UK poster for Lemon Popsicle 3 Hot Bubblegum (1981). I think Guild Film
Distributors or Entertainment handled this but I’m not sure. Looks more like
the 1950s that 1980s.

Publicity book for Lifeforce (1985) in the UK.
DOUBLE
DAMME!

2 Van Dammes on one VHS tape. Just
realised to get to the 2nd film you have to fast forward the tape
(unlike DVD).
I’m guessing real JCVD fans’ VCRs don’t have a fast forward button and
they watch both films right through? :p
Cannon pic of the day. Not sure about a tagline but you can make up your
own…

Yes, the best pirates movie ever made has been added to the Cannon Warner

Stallone’s Cobra (1986) UK and German VHS rental scans. I prefer the UK cover but the German one
is pretty cool. No Cannon logo as Warner bought this and 20+ other films from
Cannon. Cannon/Golan-Globus still get a mention of course.
Kid Vengeance (1977) (Rank Video - Cannon) Most of the cast
wandered on to God's
Gun (1976) also
released by Rank on UK VHS.
