Alex is Lovesick AKA Alex in Love (USA)
-Long lost Cannon film? Directed by Boaz “Lemon Popsicle” Davidson.
That’s the VHS cover in Israel and it’s listed as
production by Pathé (the short-lived name for MGM/Cannon). 1986 sounds a bit early for the Pathé name.
Note the “Home Video” logo is borrowed from MGM/UA home video. If you have any info or a
scan of the cover get in touch.
Supersize The Jaws of Death (1976)! *
Poster
scan from Cannon’s 1977 cinema release (which I believe was
Called “Mako: Jaws of Death” a year
previously). IMDb listing here
*Note: This film is not cashing in on
Spielberg’s masterpiece. It’s just similar.

Jean-Luc Godard spying on Menahem Golan added to YouTube
I think
we can safely assume that Godard had final cut :p The phone call was a 4-way
link with
Tom
Luddy, Norman Mailer, Menahem Golan (he's the "Let me tell you"
voice) and Jean-Luc Godard.
"THE CANNON
GROUP INC, BAHAMAS" title card, a joke by Godard?
(I have
a webpage to upload soon on the recording).

Dug out my copy of Andrew Yule’s “True Story”. I remember reading it in 1987 and my over-riding thought was
Yule was subjective and didn’t really like Golan-Globus for some reason (not
that a serious non-fiction author should be bothered either way). By the end
of the book (blur now but I’m going to re-read it soon) I had no respect for
Yule as an author at all as it seemed to be a total attack against the
film-makers. Yule wrote lots of other books so maybe they’re all the same
nasty tone? With the Cannon book he does seem to blame Golan-Globus for
everything apart from WWII. I would like to OCR the book and publish it here but
I’m not sure about the legality of that so if someone would like to comment
(and I don’t mean Yule’s lawyer) please get in touch. See the Contact Me page on the main menu |
